Botox

Botox is the trade name of the chemical Botulinum Toxin Type A. This naturally occurring chemical prevents muscles from contracting. It has been used in medical treatment for over 50 years for muscle spasm disorders such as eye squints and bladder spasms, often in much higher doses than those used in cosmetics.

Cosmetically it is used in small doses to relax facial muscles responsible for creasing the skin into lines and wrinkles, without appreciable effect on facial expression.

Botox ‘areas’

Botox ‘area’ refers to groups of muscles responsible for wrinkles around the eyes and the forehead, they are known as:

• Crow’s feet area or ‘smile’ lines

• Glabella area or ‘frown’ lines

• Forehead area

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are made from molecules that do not react with the skin, but give structural support by ‘filling out’ the lines in the skin. They are specially designed to treat wrinkles in the skin not amenable to Botox.

Dermal fillers are available in half and full syringes from a number of manufacturers. At Prince Cosmetic Group we offer a carefully selected range of fillers and will advise on the one that suits your needs. If you have a specific filler in mind that is not available in our range, please contact us one week before you appointment and we will supply that filler without extra cost or obligation to purchase.

The type and amount of filler used depends on the depth and extent of the wrinkle. The ‘thickest’ fillers are reserved for the deepest lines and the ‘thinnest’ filler are used for the smallest lines.

The common areas for Dermal fillers are:

• Nose to mouth lines (Nasolabial fold)

• Fine mouth lines (Smoker’s lines)

• Lip augmentation
